The most important out of Hollywood right now is the growing fight on behalf of the makers to get a fair deal so they can keep their lives as working artists and craftspeople. To help us examine this phenomenon through our specialty lens we welcome writer and card-carrying (and currently striking) member of the WGA EMILY KACZMAREK (Monsterland, The Staircase) to talk us through the current moment on the ground and the many wide-ranging implications in the fight for the shape of the industry. And we also took this as a great excuse to look at 1979 Cannes Competition title and Best Actress winner NORMA RAE, starring the great Sally Field. The midbudget movie, the depiction of small town life, the quality of Sally Field's hair, we get into it all together.

After thoroughly analyzing how this will impact the year ahead, we wrap up some odds and ends from Cannes Sidebars and then discuss new Palme Winner Justine Triet's previous feature, SIBYL! Starring Virginie Efira, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Sandra Hüller, we gab about the fun feature examining an unethical therapist, a frustrating artistic process, and a whole lot of messed up relationships.

After months of speculation, we finally have a new Palme winner! Congratulations to Justine Triet and ANATOMY OF A FALL! We do love our ties here at Cannes I Kick It.
